After five months in beta, Skype video messaging is now a full-fledged tool available to all users.

The free service is compatible with Windows desktop, Windows 8, Macs, iPhones, iPadAndroid and BlackBerry.

“Just like the millions of users around the world who have already previewed video messaging, you too can now record and share a personal video message, even when your friends and loved ones are not available,” said Microsoft’s Yasmin Kohn in a blog post. “The best part is that they’ll be able to view your video message as soon as they sign into Skype.”

There is no limit on how many video messages users can send or receive and only the recipient of the message can view it.

To record a Skype video message, tap the ‘video message’ button and then tap the record button to begin taping the message. Messages can be up to three minutes long.

The sender also has the option of viewing the video before hitting the send button. Messages can be deleted and re-recorded until the user is satisfied with the result.

To send, click on the envelope icon and the video will be on its way to the recipient.
